About this collection

This collection is being developed to illustrate the experiences of one man's experiences as a soldier drafted into the United States Army to serve in the Vietnam War and the lasting impact those experiences had on his life. Harold King is a recipient of the Purple Heart and served in Vietnam for one year. Mr. King was in the ready reserve group for 2 years and was then transferred to reserve standby group. Mr. King was officially discharged from the reserves in January of 1972 with an honorable discharge. Mr. King married in 1969 while still in the ready reserve. Mr. King had three children and currently has four grandchildren. Mr. King's son also served in the Army, during the Desert Storm conflict. 

This collection includes documents from the U.S. Army, photographs, and an oral history interview with Mr. King.
