This collection's primary focus is to showcase the everyday lives of U.S. citizens during the post-WWII and Vietnam War. The collection holds oral histories from Maryann and Walter Sparrow. They retell moments in their lives that were either affected by the wars or stood out to them. Photos that accompany their lives are also included.

What are some of the interesting items that one will see in this collection? For starters this collection is more audio based, 10 of the items are sound recordings. This is because the collection is primarily an Oral History of Maryann and Walter Sparrow. With their narrations, our collection is rich in detail about childhood adventures growing up in 1940s in both Clarksdale, Mississippi and Norfolk, Virginia.

Some of the items include,

  • Sound recordings about two 20 year olds experience with the Vietnam draft and the effects of seeing loved ones going off to war and not making it back.
